Subject: Update on the recent incident, and additional controls.
There was a recent incident in which there was a collusion by certain employees with external parties, and certain forged cheques/ payment instructions were cleared by one Chandigarh Branch. No such incident has been reported by any other of our over 1000 Branches in the country. This was an isolated incident.
As we announced, IDFC FIRST Bank dealt with the incident on a principled basis and paid the client the full amount even though it was under investigation. The Customer-First approach is part of our Bank’s DNA, which we have been practicing since our inception.
We are happy to share all of you have placed a high level of trust in our Bank, and Bank’s total deposit balance continues to remain stable at ₹ 2,92,381 crores as of February 28, 2026, compared to ₹ 2,91,133 crore as of December 31, 2025. Thank you for your trust.
The Bank is introducing FOUR additional controls.
1. Email Confirmation: For Government Banking and institutional accounts the Bank will initiate an email to the registered email of the account, and only on receipt of specific confirmation from the registered email will the Bank clear the transaction.
2. Centralized Authorization Team Above a specified amount, Bank is setting up a centralized authorization team independent of the Branch.
3. App confirmation: For Individuals, customers will be required to specifically log into the App or Internet Banking and authorize the cheque submitted at the Branch.
4. Generative AI check. Taking advantage of the newer technology of Generative AI, we are developing an AI solution for matching the signature with the cheques.
